With a more than nine months before the next Ride for Skip the riders are deciding what challenge ride they want to attempt. Our premier rider Mike Scalzi will challenge himself by riding the entire 184 mile length of the C&O Canal Towpath in one day.
Last year Mike joined Mark Hornbaker the founder of the Ride for Skip and Paul Barrett as they rode 260 miles from Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania to Washington D.C. in three days.
Mark Hornbaker will be joined by George Andrews and Paul Barrett as the riders will ride 320 miles from McKeesport, Pennsylvania to Washington D.C. in four days. The riders will start off on the Great Allegheny Trail the first two days of the ride. On the third day of the ride the riders will start on the C&O Canal Towpath at Cumberland, Maryland and will ride 100 miles. The fourth day of the ride will have the riders start off at mile post 84 on the C&O Canal Towpath. The riders will be joined on the final day of the ride by riders that are riding a one day 100 mile ride and riders that are doing the one day 60 mile ride. All of the rides will end at Fletcher’s Boat House where we will be by friends and family members.
The first three Ride for Skip raised a little more than $85,000 for the Skip Viragh Charities. The Skip Viragh Charities has used that money to grant nine wishes through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
